Hey there! You were looking for some psychological anime but couldn’t figure out what to watch after Tokyo Ghoul?, Allow me to introduce you Monster, a series by Naoki Urasawa.

Monster follows the story of Doctor Kenzo Tenma, who saves a child’s life by sacrificing the life of the mayor/minister. But to his surprise, the life he saved several years ago turns against humanity. Johan Liebert is the antagonist of the story and the same child Tenma saved several years ago.

Johan Liebert is a smart and handsome man who uses his charm to corrupt people’s souls and kills them if anything goes against his plans.

After finding out Johan existence and what he has been upto, Kenzo Tenma takes the blame of all Johan’s wrongdoings. Tenma lives with this regret that he once saved Johan’s life only to see him become a monster who devour humanity.

Kenzo Tenma fights this psychological war with Johan but he doesn’t want to kill him. The show opens a densely packed feelings between Tenma and his ideals. On the other hand Johan is a twisted freak who thinks that he is the choose one and nothing can kill him.
