The anime is based on the protagonist – Ichigo Kurosaki, who receives the powers of Soul Reaper from Rukia Kuchiki and takes a journey that will change his life. The original manga has many characters and side characters unrelated to the main story. However, the directors included the side characters in the anime adaptation to keep the anime going for years. Though the anime was abruptly ended in 2012, fans never get to see the real ending to the show. 

However, the anime is making a comeback in October 2022 with its last arc- Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. If we combine everything that Bleach has produced so far, it can take months to watch every episode of the series entirely.

Now to understand how filler episodes work, we have to know what is the difference between Canon and filler. A canon episode is something that is adapted as it is from the original manga. Whereas filler episodes contain content that is neither available in manga and may not be approved by the author. However, sometimes, the storyboards mix canon episodes with filler and wise versa. Here is a quick look at Bleach canon, filler, and mixed episodes, followed by the correct watch order. 

How to watch Bleach in the correct order?

Now you have made up your mind to watch Bleach, here is what you need to do and follow. This ark basically reveals the protagonist and the rest of the main characters to the story. You can follow episodes 1 -21 or more for the first week. The first 21 episodes have no fillers, and it gets straight to the story. 

In week 2, you can start from 22 to 43, or 45. This particular arc talks about Soul Society and how Ichigo gets winded up in the world of Soul Reapers. These episodes also share insight into Soul Society, which later becomes a staple in the Bleach narrative. You can skip a few episodes in the second week, for example, episode 33, which had no plot relevancy to the main story. 

In week 3, you can start from episodes 43 to 110. These 67 episodes mark the ending of the Soul Society arc. There are a few filler episodes in this arc, but those episodes provide ample introspective into Ichigo and how he got used to Bankai in the real world. You can watch these filler episodes because they give you a background into what Ichigo has achieved as a Soul Reaper.

During week 4, you can skip the filler episodes mentioned in the list and go straight to episodes 111 to 139. These episodes give a background for a new group of Soul Reapers called the ‘vizards’. You can watch these episodes to see what other characters are going through, but if you want to go straight to the plot, skip the episodes from 128-to 137.

Now heading on to week five, you can start with episodes 140 to 163. These episodes carry the Hueco Mundo arc, which is by far one of the best arcs of the series. The plot basically introduces the Arrancars, and in-between, we also witness some of the fights between the characters. 

Straight going into week 6, you can start with episodes 164-208. These episodes refer to the second phase of the Hueco Mundo arc and also share an insight into the past arcs, including the story of Aizen and Soul Society. 

Once you’ve finished up to week 6, you may take a break; however, if you like to continue, keep reading until the last week to finish the anime faster and move on to the movies. 

Now, on week 7, you can start from episodes 209 to 234. These episodes are the continuation of the Arrancar arc and contain minor fillers. However, rest assured, tiny bits of the filler connect with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War arc, which is also the last arc in the Bleach universe. 

On week 8, you can begin with episodes 235 to 277. This week might feel longer because we’re covering a lot of episodes. However, you can skip the fillers using the sheet given above. Rest, you can continue watching the episodes of the rebellion arc.

On week 9, we can watch Bleach from episodes 278 to 331. You must wonder how more episodes have been added to the last weeks.
