9 Best Emo rappers people love to listen to (January 2023)

The sudden rise of ‘Soundcloud rapper’ created this new sub-genre of music called emo rap. The Soundcloud rapper or more profoundly the emo rappers have a distinctive sound that often sad or contains elements from pop, punk, rap, and hip-hop. Emo rap features darker themes in the lyrics like suicide depression and loneliness and other elements in emo-rap include aggressive vocal styles with catchy beats and guitar. Otakusmart brings you the best Emo rappers people like to listen to. This list Includes my personal emo rappers 2019, emo rappers 2020, and singer best emo rappers.

Scarlxrd (pronounced “Scarlord)

Marius Lucas Antonio Listhrop was born June 19, 1994, known professionally as Scarlxrd. The British rapper is known for his unusual musical style combining elements of trap music and heavy metal.

Lucas started his career in music as the lead vocalist for a new metal band. But he rose to recognition after his music video heart attack gained significant attention-holding over 50 million views.

So you might be thinking, Scarlxrd isn’t really emo-rap because of his hardcore screamo vocals but screaming into music has been around since the very dawn.

One way or the other, screaming can be considered as part-emo has famous emo bands like MCR, Thirty seconds to mars have been using screaming elements in their music.

Joji (George Miller)

George Miller was born on 18 September 1992, better known by his stage name Joji. He started his career with the youtube personality filthy Frank. Joji is a Japanese singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, and comedian.

Does anybody remember the pink guy? Unlike his former youtube personality, Joji music feels emo, sad, and depressing. Joji recently released his new album- Nector so check that out and now we are heading to the next emo rapper.

Lil Xan

Born as Nicholas Diego Leanos on September 6, 1996. Lil Xan is an American rapper-singer and songwriter from Redlands California. He is best known for his song betrayed which was certified platinum by the RIAA and peaked at number 64 on the Billboard Hot100.

Although the rapper received hate from the hip-hop fans over his comment on 2Pac, the rapper continues his emo sounding music for the 14-year-old E-boys and E-girls. Lil Xan creates straight-up sad boy music and often contains low or lazy vocals mixed with a low BPM beat to accompany the sadness in his voice. Pretty dramatic. Don’t you think?

Lil Tracy

Jazz Ishmael Butler born on October 3rd, 1995 better known for his stage name little Tracy. He is best known for his collaborations with the late rapper little peep, specifically, the song awful things which peaked at 79 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He was also noted as being a prominent member of the SoundCloud rap and underground rap scene. I feel like this dude was one of the first guys to rock the long stripe t-shirts with colored dreadlocks.

Lil Tracy’s lyrics are mostly sad and he mainly talks about relationships and all the generic sad boy stuff. I don’t know much about sad boy stuff but it is what young kids like to listen to.

He is also known for his distinctive fashion choices and especially the kawaii clothing spree. This dude just doesn’t give a __.

Shinigami

Gianni Veloz’s or better known for his stage name Shinigami. He is a hip-hop artist who first gained recognition on Soundcloud blending emo, punk, rap, pop, and traps.

He released his debut project, Luna, in 2016 and his latest release in 2018. When you think of an emo rappers boys then this guy definitely has one of the best tracks in the underground emo-rap game.

I don’t have much information on him this is all I know about him for right now. Go check him out, you might like his music.

Wicca

Adam McIlwee or better known for his artist name Wicca. He is a former vocalist-guitarist for the Pennsylvania based indie rock band Tigers Jaw. His music mixes elements of hip hop, goth and accompanied with emotionally heavy lyrics that are reminiscent of rap and hip-hop.

Apart from his musical abilities, he is also the co-founder of the goth boy clique. No doubt, the dude is an OG in the emo game. There’s no denying this dude has a huge influence on the emo music scene. I’ve seen him collaborating with some of the best artists in the game and he just makes really good music overall.

Boyfriends

Boyfriends include three different artists. Individually known as smart death, Lil Otis, and Lil Aaron. If you don’t know them individually, I would suggest checking them out because they’re amazing as solo artists and a force to be reckoned with when they join forces like the Power Rangers.

No doubt, they deliver some of the best lyrical content and delivery in the emo music game right now. Check them out!

xxxtentacion

Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy or better know as xxxtentacion or just x was born on January 23rd, 1998. X has always been a controversial figure within the hip-hop industry. xxxtentacion left behind a huge musical footprint due to his impact on his young fan base and his popularity during his short career.

X was so diverse in his musical style as an artist and I think that’s important as an artist to always grow and try new things and he wasn’t afraid to do that.

He embraced it and although there was controversy surrounding his name. I believe that X was a sweet guy at his core and if you guys watched his Instagram lives he always spoke of positivity and just being better human overall.

Sadly he was fatally shot at only 20 years old. He could have done so much more if he had more time but you know they say the good die young, so rest in peace legend.

Lil peep

Gustav Elijah Åhr born on November 1st,1996 – November 15, 2017. Lil peep was a rapper singer-songwriter, and model because that dude was gorgeous AF, he was known for helping pioneer an emo revival style of hip hop and rock.

There’s no denying that after he came out we all stopped rapping so much and began singing song hooks again in that classic whiny emo voice. I don’t think half of these new artists today would exist if it weren’t for Lil Peep and another former emo rappers

He was one of the rap legends that brought emo rap to the mainstream and not to mention all the alternative community getting Lil Peep tattoos to show their love and support. Unfortunately, the legend died of drug overdose but all people have to die and some die first. Rest in peace emo king.

So that was our take on Top 10 legendary smartphones of all time. Comment your favorite rapper in the comment section below.
