Tank Chair came out swinging. The sci-fi anime premiered on October 4, and it has now released clean versions of its opening and ending sequences with the credits removed.
The opening theme is “DALALA” by SiM, which appears on the band’s album HOOMAN AFTER ALL and is open for pre-save. The ending theme is “SYNC” by Daoko, and the digital single is already available to stream and download.
The series adapts Manabu Yashiro’s manga, which Kodansha releases in English. Nagi Taira, a top-tier assassin, is left unresponsive after taking a bullet meant for his younger sister. The only thing that can stir him is exposure to killing intent. His sister Shizuka decides that extreme killing intent is the way to bring him back, so she puts him through a “rehab” program against dangerous opponents.
Amazon Prime Video streams the series.
The Staff Behind the Tank Chair Anime
The production team has a strong track record. Tadahiro “Tady” Yoshihira, who directed Drifting Dragons, directs, writes scripts, and handles series composition at Polygon Pictures. Hiroaki Ando, whose credits include Kaina of the Great Snow Sea, also directs and writes scripts.
Yuki Moriyama, known for Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle, draws the character designs. Kazuma Teshigahara of Star Wars Visions oversees production design, and Masaru Yokoyama, a Drifting Dragons veteran, composes the music.
Creditless videos give fans a clearer look at the animation. Without names and titles crossing the screen, the visuals and music can be enjoyed as a pure showcase, and the loud, energetic pairing of SiM’s track with the series’ violent imagery sets the tone for what is to come.
What Comes Next
Earlier promotional material, including a trailer that announced the October 4 date and theme songs, hinted at a hard-hitting ride. Now that episodes are airing, viewers can see how Nagi’s strange road to recovery unfolds.
