The countdown to GROTESQQQUE is nearly over. The three-part anthology anime film opens in Japan on November 6, and its closing segment, Nocturne: On This Grotesque Night, now has a trailer of its own.
The preview reveals the segment’s theme song, “TINY LUCK” by Kairi Yagi. The trailer also gives a first proper look at the story, which follows a pure-blooded vampire and her circle of friends, who were once human themselves.

Who Is Making Nocturne
Atsushi Nishigori wrote the story for the whole film and directs the overall project at CloverWorks. For this final part, he takes on both direction and character design. Kazuko Nakajima handles color design, Akane Iwakuma of dehogallery leads art direction, Yuya Sakuma oversees compositing, and Capsule provides the 3DCG.
The cast features four members of the J-Pop group Nogizaka46: Nagi Inoue, Aruno Nakanishi, Miku Ichinose, and Nao Tomisato.
A Look at the Other Two Parts
The earlier chapters have a very different feel. Part one, Aliens, is also directed by Nishigori, with character designs by Masato Yasuno and a cast led by Kana Ichinose and Gen Hoshino. Part two, Yoroshiku★Shoujo, is directed by Takahiro Miura of Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] fame. Its character designs come from tarou2 and its action direction from Isao Hayashi. The voice cast includes Sara Minami, Ikumi Hasegawa, Saori Hayami, Maaya Uchida, Chika Anzai, Miyu Tomita, Rumi Okubo, and Rie Kugimiya.
Tying the segments together, Tomoyuki Arima oversees art direction and graphic design. Akinori Mishima edits, Daiki Yamaki directs the sound design, and Yosuke Hasegawa and Tetsuya Iwasaki serve as music producers.
Which GROTESQQQUE Part to Watch First?
Each segment takes its own approach to tone, style, and cast, which is what makes the anthology format interesting. With all three trailers now out, fans can compare the parts and decide which one has them most curious when the film arrives in November.
