Go Young Wook, a former member of the group Roo’ra who was convicted of sexual crimes against minors, has once again publicly criticized popular MC Yoo Jae Suk. The claims he made are his own and have not been independently verified.
On October 6, Go Young Wook posted a screenshot of an article reporting that Yoo Jae Suk gives Korean beef gifts to about 100 people every holiday. He then recounted a conversation he said he had with a person who worked as Yoo Jae Suk’s manager for 16 years.
According to Go Young Wook, he met the manager before the Chuseok holiday. He said the manager confided that, despite more than a decade and a half of working together, he had never once received Korean beef from Yoo Jae Suk. Go Young Wook quoted the manager as saying his wish was to receive the gift at least one time.
From there, he turned the story into a pointed question. He noted that Yoo Jae Suk is known for being considerate toward those around him, as the article suggested, and asked why a manager who worked hard at his side for 16 years apparently received nothing. He added that he did not want to think this way but wondered whether the gifts are sent only where positive stories will be publicized.
Background on Go Young Wook
This is not the first time Go Young Wook has directed such remarks at the MC. He previously shared a screenshot of Yoo Jae Suk on MBC’s “Hangout With Yoo” and asked whether broadcasting was really so rewarding, adding that the star’s greed was endless. After reports said Yoo Jae Suk had canceled a recording because of the flu, Go Young Wook also stirred controversy by commenting that it was a good chance for him to rest.
For context, Go Young Wook debuted with Roo’ra in 1994. He was indicted for sexually assaulting and molesting minors between 2010 and 2012, and in 2013 the Supreme Court sentenced him to two years and six months in prison. He was also ordered to serve five years on a public registry and three years of electronic location monitoring, which effectively ended his entertainment career.
No response to the latest remarks has been reported.
