The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life has arrived. The anime began broadcasting on October 6 and is streaming on Crunchyroll as part of the fall 2026 simulcast lineup.
Around the premiere, the production released a modified main trailer with running commentary from Mother of Assassins, voiced by Rie Shibata. She is an antagonistic figure who trains Mirabelle and others to become a new generation of hired killers, and her narration gives the familiar footage a more sinister edge.
The story begins with Rein, a mage who spent years boosting his guildmates’ equipment with enchantments. When he finished enchanting everything, the guild threw him out. Rather than sulk, Rein takes back the magic he gave away, pours it into his own sword, and enjoys his newfound freedom as an adventurer. Along the way, he gathers other outcasts, and together they hunt monsters and build a place for themselves in a magical world.
