JYP Entertainment has revised the pricing for Stray Kids’ 6th-generation official fan club kit after facing strong criticism from fans. The decision follows several days of backlash over the cost of the newly announced STAY membership kit, which many felt was unjustifiably higher than previous generations.
Earlier this week, JYP revealed details for recruitment into the 6th generation of STAY, including a standard membership fee and a separately sold fan kit. While the membership itself followed familiar pricing, the kit quickly became the focus of controversy.
Fans pointed out that its cost was higher than earlier STAY kits, sparking widespread dissatisfaction across social platforms.
Hyunjin Addresses Fans’ Concerns
The issue gained further attention during an Instagram live broadcast on January 24. Stray Kids member Hyunjin addressed the situation directly, explaining that he had learned of fans’ concerns and checked the details himself. He shared that he was unhappy with the pricing and had personally spoken to the company about it. At the same time, he suggested that the final decision was largely beyond the members’ control.
His comments were met with sympathy from fans, many of whom appreciated the acknowledgment while continuing to press JYP for an official response.
Official Price Reduction and Kit Changes
On January 25, JYP’s fan platform FANS released a detailed statement in English outlining changes to the STAY 6th Gen membership operations. The company explained that this recruitment cycle was structured differently from past generations, leading to adjustments in fees and kit pricing. JYP apologized for the lack of advance notice and accepted responsibility for the confusion.
The most notable change was a sharp reduction in the STAY membership kit price. The kit, originally listed at KRW 22,000, has been lowered to KRW 10,000. FANS noted that overseas prices may vary depending on exchange rates and payment providers.
In addition, the [ALBUM PLUSH KEYRING] REPLAY : STAY WITH YOUR WINGS item has been removed from the kit. The song “별, 빛 (STAY)” is now scheduled for release as a digital single in the first quarter of 2026. Solo tracks that were originally tied to the keyring will instead be included in the upcoming SKZ-REPLAY digital album, set for release later this year.
Schedule Adjustments for STAY Memberships
JYP also revised the recruitment timeline. The STAY 6th Gen sign-up period has been shifted from January 26–February 4 to January 27–February 5, 2026 (KST). As a result, the STAY 5th Gen activity period has been extended by one day, and the start of the 6th Gen activity period has been moved accordingly.
The statement closed with another apology and a note of appreciation to fans for their patience. While reactions remain mixed, the price cut has been seen by many STAYs as a meaningful acknowledgment of their concerns.
