“Descendants of the sun” part 2 is highly anticipated, and drama fans from all over the world are looking forward to seeing if the couple will come back again in their lead roles for the second season.
According to some sources, Descendants of the sun season 2 will incorporate new changes in the storyline. Additionally, it is disheartening to see that the cute pair of the first season- Song Joong ki and Song Hye Kyo will not partake in the second installment of the Descendants of the sun.

Both the actors have been busy with several projects, and it is reported that a cast will replace the old one. Additionally, it has been reported that the second season of Descendants of the sun will release later this year because the KBS team has updated the fans about a possible S2 for this drama.
However, nothing else was revealed about the cast or storylines. In season one, we got to meet a cute story about an ongoing war that changed our perspective about love, care, and belonging. Fans have eagerly been waiting for the DOTS season 2 premiere, and their cry has been fulfilled because, in the winter of 2021, we might be able to see our favorite k-drama again.

We hate to break it to you but it has been reported that the old cast will be replaced by the new one.
Meaning, fans will not be able to see Song Joong-ki because, after the release of his new movie, Battlefield, the actor will be taking a long vacation, will be changed, and be away from the drama industry for a while.
Maybe the actor just wants to relax a bit, let him be a guy!
Right after Song Joong-ki debuted in k-dramas, the 35-year-old actor has been working back-and-forth on multiple projects. And I believe rejuvenating is a natural process, and everyone needs a break sometimes.
Additionally, Kim Ji-won has also revealed that she is busy with other shoots and brand projects, so along with Song Joong-ki, other cast members won’t be returning to the drama.
That leaves us to the conclusion that the directors and casting groups will feature new actors in the second season of Descendants of the sun.

Descendants of the sun season 1 had roughly 19 episodes, so fans can expect DOTS season 2 to have at least 15-20 episodes of 1 hour each.
That translates into 20 hours of waiting time, and if we add the few breaks and working hours of an average human being, we can complete the second season of Descendants of the sun in just a week.
